The Goodness Project is a non-profit organisation bridging South Africa’s public and private healthcare sectors to connect expertise, capacity and resources, strengthen the healthcare system and unlock free, life-changing surgeries for state patients.

The Challenge

More than 50 million South Africans rely on the public healthcare system. Yet limited surgical capacity has created long waiting lists, with consequences that extend far beyond the hospital.

Patients live with pain, families and incomes are affected, doctors face mounting pressure, and the surgical backlog continues to grow.

The challenge is not simply a lack of resources, but a lack of connection between the capacity, expertise and resources already available.

Our Response

We bring together healthcare institutions, professionals, funders and partners to unlock surgical capacity, enable free procedures, create opportunities for doctor training, support medical research and provide whole-person care.

By connecting what already exists, we turn untapped potential into meaningful healthcare impact.
